Hurley (Charles F.) State Social Service Center opens.

(March) Architect: Paul Rudolph. With Shepley, Bulfinch, Richardson & Abbott. Originally the Division of Employment Security Building, it is located at 19 Staniford Street. the lobby features a two-story high mural by Constantino Nivola featuring scenes of government helping the poor. The building is subsequently named for the former Massachusetts governor and is located at 19 Staniford Street.
